Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA)

📍 Location: Sandwell, Birmingham
💷 Salary: £24,310 - £27,751 (depending on experience and qualifications)
🕒 Hours: 37.5 per week (Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm)
🚗 Travel required: Across the local area therefore driving is essential

Are you passionate about empowering survivors of domestic abuse and ensuring their voices are heard? We're seeking a dedicated Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) to provide high quality, frontline support to victims at high risk of harm.

About the Role

As an IDVA, you'll provide specialist support to individuals experiencing domestic abuse, helping them understand their rights, assess risk, and develop personalised safety plans. You'll manage a caseload of high-risk clients, work closely with multi-agency partners, and represent clients at forums such as MARAC.

Key Responsibilities

Provide proactive crisis intervention and support to victims at high risk of domestic abuse.
Complete risk assessments and develop tailored safety and support plans.
Advocate for victims and liaise with agencies including police, housing, social care, and health services.
Represent clients at MARAC and other safeguarding forums.
Deliver one-to-one and group sessions to support survivors' empowerment and recovery.
Provide accurate case recording, reporting, and monitoring in line with service standards.
Attend court hearings and case conferences, offering emotional and practical support.
Work collaboratively with colleagues and partners to promote a coordinated community response to domestic abuse.Person Specification

You'll have experience supporting vulnerable individuals and a strong understanding of domestic abuse dynamics, safeguarding, and trauma-informed approaches. You're an excellent communicator who can stay calm under pressure, manage complex cases, and build trusted relationships with clients and professionals alike.

Experience supporting victims of domestic abuse or vulnerable adults.
IDVA qualification and/or direct experience of working in domestic/sexual violence is essential
Strong knowledge of safeguarding, risk assessment, and safety planning.
Excellent communication, advocacy, and report writing skills.
Ability to manage a busy caseload and work within a multi-agency setting.
Full driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
