The Role
As Youth Engagement Coordinator, you will design and deliver a fun, inclusive, and inspiring programme that puts young people at the heart of everything. You'll manage and lead weekly sessions for both junior and senior members, while supporting a youth-led approach that empowers young people to plan and deliver their own activities. You'll recruit, train, and support a team of senior and junior recreation staff, ensuring high-quality, engaging experiences across all sessions. You'll coordinate youth-led social action projects and manage the Young Leadership Academy helping young people build confidence, develop leadership skills, and shape their future pathways.
Key responsilbilites
* Lead the planning and delivery of high-quality, engaging junior and senior recreation sessions that are fun, inclusive, and responsive to the needs and interests of young people.
* Deliver two high-energy sessions each week for senior members and one weekly session for junior members.
* Manage Recreation Staff Team
* Recruit, train, line manage, and support a team of sessional, junior, and senior recreation staff—providing clear leadership, regular supervision, and opportunities for professional development.
* Support young people to share their ideas, plan, and lead recreational activities—ensuring their voices are central to shaping the programme.
* Coordinate Social Action Projects
* Empower young people to take action on issues that matter to them by overseeing the planning and delivery of meaningful, youth-led social action projects.
* Manage the Young Leadership Academy
* Lead the delivery of a structured leadership development programme, supporting young people to build skills, confidence, and pathways into volunteering, employment, or further training.
* Champion Youth Voice and Engagement
* Promote inclusive participation and ensure young people are actively involved in shaping their experiences across all aspects of the programme
Knowledge and Experience
* Proven experience running high-energy, engaging youth sessions for different age groups aged 7-19 years (up to 25 with SEN)
* Ability to design and run fun recreation sessions that young people enjoy and learn from.
* Understanding of the challenges faced by young people and the ability to respond creatively to their needs
* Understand how to support young people to grow in confidence and take on leadership roles.
* Knowledge of how to get young people involved in planning and leading activities.
* Practical experience in delivering hands-on, project-based learning activities.
* Knowledge of how to support young people to take action on things they care about in their community.
* Familiarity with safeguarding and health and safety requirements in a youth work setting.
* Experience in planning, monitoring, and reporting on programme impact and outcomes, including producing detailed impact stories

Pay: £25,500.00-£28,500.00 per year
