The technical assistant duties will include the preparation of field and glasshouse experiments, field sampling of soil and plants, and data recording. The role will support both the field team and laboratory team.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
1. Education to year 12 with passes in four subjects including English and one science subject, plus formal training or equivalent and/or relevant experience.
2. An understanding of grain production in Australia.
3. Ability to efficiently and accurately pack seed for trials and process plant/soil/grain samples following established procedures.
4. Proven ability to accurately and efficiently collate and manage experimental data using computers.
5. The ability to use and maintain a range of laboratory equipment and grow plant diseases in the laboratory.
6. Ability to safely work independently, sometimes in remote areas, undertaking sample collection and field assessments.
7. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a project team, be responsible for areas of work, communicate effectively with others, show initiative and demonstrate organisational skills.
