Our client is seeking a Senior Project Manager (132kv Substations) to join their UK Transmission and Distribution (T&D) team. This role involves project managing pre-construction and construction activities for large-scale high voltage infrastructure and grid connections, typically between 33kV and 132kv Projects range from feasibility and detailed design to procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning of substations and associated infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop HV and EHV project initial functional requirements into cost-effective engineering solutions.
Manage the development and delivery of HV and EHV projects, including cables, overhead lines, plant, and civil works.
Interface with customers and coordinate with internal and external resources.
Undertake the role of CDM Designer and/or Principal Designer for HV and EHV projects.
Communicate effectively with internal engineering and industrial resources.
Coordinate external service providers and manage commercial aspects.
Job Requirements:
Minimum HNC in Electrical Engineering.
Experience managing large and complex HV and EHV substation projects from feasibility to energisation.
Strong understanding of electrical transmission and distribution operations, including AIS/GIS switchgear, protection and control systems, power transformers, and overhead lines.
Optioneering skills to select suitable substation configurations based on project requirements.
Experience in project management of CAPEX and customer connection projects from initiation to project closure.
Design knowledge of both AIS & GIS substations up to 400kV.
Understanding of engineering standards for HV and EHV plant and substations.
Excellent understanding of H&S and CDM requirements for large-scale projects.
Ability to undertake the role of 'Designer' and 'Principal Designer' under CDM regulations.
Ability to interpret technical documentation related to the design of electrical substations.Benefits:
