Job Description
The venue, we are hiring for, is a multi-level Asian BBQ and grill restaurant, cocktail bar, and live music venue located in the centre of Bowness-on-Windermere. They are proud to be a finalist in the 2026 Cumbria Tourism Awards for Casual Dining and maintain a 5-star food hygiene rating, which reflects the high standards they uphold in their kitchen.
As Head Chef, the successful candidate will lead the overall running of the kitchen, lead the team during service, and confidently take control of shifts when required.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supporting the team on the day-to-day running of the kitchen
2. Running shifts independently
3. Leading the kitchen team during busy services and maintaining control under pressure
4. Delivering consistent, high-quality food across a demanding menu
5. Managing preparation, organisation, and service flow
6. Supporting GP control and minimising waste
7. Maintaining high standards, hygiene, and compliance always
8. Assisting in developing and motivating junior team members
Requirements
We are looking for someone who is:
9. Experienced as a Head Chef in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen
10. Confident leading a team and running shifts independently
11. Calm, organised, and decisive under pressure
12. A strong communicator with excellent leadership skills
13. Passionate about consistency and high standards
14. Knowledgeable in food safety and hygiene (Level 2 minimum)
15. Available to work evenings, weekends, and peak trading periods
Ideally, candidates will also have:
16. Experience within an Asian BBQ, grill, or similar cuisine-led kitchen
17. A technology-focused approach to kitchen management and stock systems
18. Experience training and developing junior kitchen staff
19. Strong spoken and written English skills
20. Confidence being on camera, as we regularly feature our team on social media and promotional content
