Maintenance Surveyor
Location: East London
Contract: Temporary
Rate: Up to £45 per hour (Umbrella)
The Role
We are working with a reputable social housing provider seeking an experienced Maintenance Surveyor to support their day-to-day repairs service across East London. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and understands the importance of delivering high-quality housing services to residents.
You will play a key role in ensuring repairs are diagnosed accurately, works are delivered efficiently, and properties are maintained to a safe and compliant standard.
Key Responsibilities
1. Carry out pre- and post-inspections for day-to-day responsive repairs
2. Diagnose building defects and specify appropriate remedial works
3. Prepare clear schedules of work and cost estimates
4. Manage and monitor contractor performance, ensuring quality, value for money, and compliance
5. Ensure works are delivered in line with health & safety, housing standards, and regulatory requirements
6. Handle technical queries and provide expert advice to operational teams
7. Work collaboratively with residents, contractors, and internal stakeholders to resolve issues efficiently
8. Use housing and repairs systems to update records and track progress
About You
9. Proven experience as a Maintenance Surveyor within social housing or a similar residential environment
10. Strong knowledge of day-to-day / responsive repairs
11. Solid understanding of building construction, defects, and maintenance practices
12. Confident managing contractors and challenging poor performance when required
13. Excellent communication skills with a resident-focused mindset
14. Able to manage a busy patch and make sound decisions independently
15. Familiar with relevant health & safety legislation and compliance standards
