Electrician – Job Summary
We’re currently looking for a skilled and qualified electrician to join our team in Wakefield. This is a hands‑on, field‑based role where you’ll be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical systems across both void and occupied properties.

Contract & Pay
Full‑time, Permanent – 42.5 hours per week (8–5 Monday–Friday)
Annual salary up to £45,500.50, plus company van and fuel card.
Responsibilities
* Reactive repairs to lighting circuits, sockets, fuseboards and other electrical systems.
* Inspect and test electrical installations to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
* Replace or repair faulty components such as switches, outlets, light fittings and circuit breakers.
* Work independently or as part of a team to meet daily repair targets.
* Communicate clearly with tenants or residents about the nature of the repair and expected outcomes.
* Ensure work areas are left clean and safe after completing repairs.
* Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures.
* Provide high levels of customer care at all times.
* Respond to emergency call‑outs when required, including out‑of‑hours shifts if applicable.
* Undertake installation, service, repair and maintenance of a broad range of domestic properties.
* Use relevant IT systems to manage and prioritise workload to complete repairs in a timely manner.
Requirements
* NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations – including AM2.
* City & Guilds 18th Edition (17th Edition acceptable with update).
* Full UK driving licence with a clean driving record.
* Inspection & Testing 2391 or equivalent (2394/2395).
* Previous domestic or social housing experience.
* Flexibility to travel.

Vehicle Eligibility
To drive a Mears vehicle you must be aged over 21, have held your licence for over 3 months, and have fewer than 9 points.
