Overview
Supplier Technologist role at apetito UK. Based at the Trowbridge Head Office with some travel to UK and European suppliers. 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. UK driving licence and valid passport required to facilitate travel.
The role reports to and supports the Supplier Technical Manager and helps ensure foods, consumables and items for use in the factory meet high standards. You will monitor goods delivered from approved suppliers against agreed specifications to meet legislative, 3rd party, customer and business requirements. You will assist in maintaining, delivering and developing procedures, systems and supplier audits to ensure compliance with business standards such as those required by the British Retail Consortium.

Responsibilities
* Gather supplier information to support risk assessment findings
* Review and final stakeholder approval of raw material specifications against supplier approval documentation
* Liaise with suppliers to confirm technical requirements such as Certificates of Analysis (CoAs) and positive release
* Maintain and update databases, compliance declarations and risk assessments for approximately 400 suppliers
* Support the Supplier Technical Manager in desktop and on-site supplier approvals and monitoring audits
* Provide support to resolve supplier-related non-conformances and complaints
* Support continuous improvement and development of processes and procedures for supplier and material technical approval to deliver a benchmark quality management system
* Act in a manner that prevents risk of injury or illness to self or others
Essential
* Working knowledge of food safety and quality requirements
* Competent in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
* Numerate with good written English
* Ability to form good working relationships with external suppliers
* Excellent communication and attention to detail
* Ability to work on own initiative and manage time effectively
* Driving licence and valid passport; willing to travel
* Adaptable and methodical
Desirable
* Experience in approving food product specifications and supplier approval questionnaires
* Food Technology/Safety degree or similar
* Quality Assurance or related background
* Lead Auditor qualification
* Experience with supplier management software
