Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our Corporate Services Finance team. Reporting to the Financial Accountant and supported by the Senior Finance Manager, you will be responsible for core accounting tasks including:
* General ledger reconciliations and journal entries (EOM and EOFY)
* Financial reporting and compliance (AASB, ATO, ABS)
* Cash management including banking, investments, and cash flow
* Management and project accounting reports
* Credit card expense oversight
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
* A degree in Accounting, Business, Commerce, or Economics
* At least 2 years' experience in a similar accounting role
* Strong reconciliation and reporting skills
* Excellent communication and time management skills
* Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems (Business Central/Navision desirable)
* Understanding of Australian regulatory and compliance standards
Desirable:
* Progress toward CA or CPA qualifications
* Experience in the Human Services sector (Disability, Health, Aged Care, etc.)
* Knowledge of NDIS or other government-funded services

Additional Notes
This position requires presence in the Maitland office at least a few days per week. It is not a remote role.
