The Post
NHS National Procurement – the Procurement Centre of Expertise for Health in Scotland, a directorate within NHS National Services Scotland – offers a Procurement & Supply Graduate Trainee post for qualified graduates wishing to develop a career in Public Procurement. This 2‑year fixed‑term / secondment contract is part of our Graduate Trainee Scheme, designed to provide the postholder with the knowledge, skills and experience required to meet the “Procurement Practitioner” standard within the Scottish Procurement Development Framework. The postholder will work across a range of procurements for NSS, NHS Shetland and Public Health Scotland, and will have opportunities to work within the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service warehouse and with other National Procurement commodity areas, gaining exposure across all key supply areas – strategic sourcing, supply chain and logistics.
The Candidate
Qualifications: a degree or SCQF level 10 in procurement, business, law or IT related subject completed no earlier than 2024.
Attributes: genuine enthusiasm for developing a career in procurement and the opportunity to undertake a course of study leading to membership of the Chartered Institute of Procurement.
Location and Working Pattern
Based at Gyle Square, Edinburgh. Currently hybrid working with regular on‑site attendance required. Working pattern: Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week. Must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
