Health Care Support Worker - Paediatrics

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a friendly, motivated Paediatric team at the Princess of WalesHospital.
The successful candidate will be based within the Paediatric Department at The Princess of Wales Hospital which comprises Children Wards and Paediatric Outpatients. The wards care for children aged 0-16 yrs of age.
Main duties of the job
HCSW duties at band 2 include supporting and caring for children and their families. Assisting the Registered Nurses, play leader and the Medical team to ensure the smooth running of the Paediatric Unit. Duties will include ensuring the stock of equipment on the ward and general cleanliness on the unit is maintained.
You will be working with the Registered Nurses to provide general care for children and their families, and this can include preparing patients for theatre, chaperoning them to theatre and other appointments within the hospital, recording of observations and providing care to meet hygiene needs of the patients.

Person Specification
Qualifications / Knowledge
* NVQ level 2 or the equivalent level of knowledge, training & experience
* NVQ level 2 in Health & Social Care
* Welsh Language Skills (Level 3 and above/B2) are Desirable for this Role.
Experience
* Have experience of caring for children within the field of health or social care
* Previous HCSW experience in a health care environment
