About the Role
This highly experienced, dynamic leader leads the product marketing team for the Academic Leader and Funder part of the Elsevier portfolio. This leader will be a successful people leader with a proven track record of coaching high-performing teams, developing talent at all levels, and creating an inclusive, empowering team culture. Reporting to the VP of Audience Marketing, this role oversees competitive intelligence, messaging, and solution-specific marketing plans for SaaS, data, and analytics products. A critical ‘voice of the customer’ champion, this position maintains broad awareness of market, customer and competitor dynamics to inform impactful messaging, positioning, and campaigns to drive new business and retention.
Responsibilities
1. Developing go-to-market strategies for core product releases and ensure successful execution.
2. Overseeing global go-to-market approach for individual solutions in accordance with company goals and in alignment with key stakeholders, e.g. sales, product development, executive team.
3. Overseeing operations of Product Marketing team. Will manage direct reports, budget planning, and reporting.
4. Establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of product marketing initiatives.
5. Conducting ongoing market research to identify trends, customer needs, and the competitive landscape.
6. Owning cross-functional customer insights and competitive intelligence programs, creating a feedback loop between product marketing, sales, field marketing, and product
7. Monitoring and analyzing market trends to inform product development and marketing strategies
8. Collaborating with portfolio marketing and product management, developing positioning and value propositions to ensure competitive differentiation.
9. Deliver solution-level messaging and content to support middle-of-funnel and bottom-of-funnel marketing and sales motions
10. Collaborating with Sales Leaders to create and maintain content for all parts of the sales journey (pitch decks, fact sheets, etc.)
11. Creating a product marketing organization that is seen as a valued partner by the organization
12. Serving as an exemplar and mentor to the Product Marketing team, promoting team members’ impact and career development.
Requirements
13. Have 10 years product marketing experience in a SaaS environment with at least 5 years managing a team
14. Have excellent communication skills and ability to articulate marketing strategies and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Be able to communicate complex technical concepts in a clear and compelling manner.
15. Be an excellent people leader serving as a mentor and coach to a team of product marketers.
16. Demonstrate effective problem solving skills that result in actionable solutions
17. Be able to think strategically to develop long-term marketing plans considering market trends, competitive analysis, and growth opportunities.
18. Have proven collaboration skills to work cross functionally with sales, product management, and customer support.
19. Demonstrate ability to influence and gain buy-in from stakeholders, both within the marketing team and across the organization.
20. Be able to successfully manage relationships with stakeholders, including AG Leadership Team is essential
