We are seeking an experienced and driven Industrial Refrigeration Service Manager to lead and develop our clients service operations across the Midlands region. This role is responsible for managing a team of field service engineers, ensuring high-quality service delivery, maintaining strong client relationships, and driving operational efficiency and profitability.
The ideal candidate will be a time-served refrigeration engineer with a strong background in industrial systems and proven leadership experience.
Key Responsibilities
The Service Manager will oversee the day-to-day service and maintenance operations across the Midlands region, ensuring that both reactive and planned maintenance activities are effectively planned, scheduled, and delivered in line with company standards and client expectations. The role involves monitoring key performance indicators, service delivery metrics, and engineer productivity to maintain a high level of operational performance.
A core part of the role is leading and developing a team of refrigeration engineers. This includes mentoring, conducting performance reviews, supporting training and development, and ensuring all engineers maintain the necessary certifications and compliance requirements. The Service Manager will also be responsible for promoting and maintaining a strong health and safety culture across the team.
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership and support, assisting engineers with complex fault finding and ensuring all work complies with relevant industry regulations, including F-Gas and UK health and safety legislation.
In addition, the role requires building and maintaining strong customer relationships, acting as the main escalation point for service-related issues, and identifying opportunities to improve service delivery or expand existing contracts.
The Service Manager will also have responsibility for managing regional service budgets, controlling costs, supporting quotations and contract renewals, and identifying opportunities for growth within both existing and prospective clients. Ensuring full compliance with company policies, conducting audits, and maintaining high standards in health, safety, and environmental practices are also key aspects of the role.
Essential Requirements
The ideal candidate must be a time-served Industrial Refrigeration Engineer, having completed a recognised apprenticeship or equivalent qualification. They should have extensive hands-on experience working with industrial refrigeration systems, including ammonia, CO₂, and HFC systems, along with proven experience in a supervisory or management position.
A strong technical background in troubleshooting is essential, alongside holding a valid F-Gas certification (Category 1 minimum) and a solid understanding of UK health and safety regulations. A full UK driving licence is required.
Desirable Skills & Experience
Experience managing regional service teams is highly desirable, as is familiarity with process cooling and large-scale industrial refrigeration plant. Health and safety qualifications such as IOSH or NEBOSH would be advantageous, along with strong commercial awareness, budgeting experience, and familiarity with service management software systems.
