Job Summary
We are looking for a full‑time Senior Staff Nurse to work at our PICU (Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit) Calder Ward at Pendleview Unit. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, suitably qualified, experienced and forward‑thinking individual to join the teams at Pendleview.
Responsibilities
* Provide nurse leadership within the multidisciplinary team and ensure effective assessment, formulation, planning and monitoring of care for inpatient service users.
* Ensure all contacts with service users are recorded promptly, accurately and to a high standard.
* Participate in service development and clinical governance requirements such as surveys and audits.
* Support staff members in the assessment, planning and provision of care in line with national and local nursing policies.
* Exercise professional accountability and responsibility, demonstrating the use of professional skills, knowledge and expertise in the provision of high‑quality care.
* Utilise research, audit and enquiry to lead improvements in care.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* Registered Mental Health Nurse qualification.
* Ongoing registration with the NMC.
* Specialist qualification or equivalent level in skills and development.
* Understanding of Health and Safety policies and procedures.
* Knowledge and practice of the Mental Health Act 1983 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
* Experience of assessing, planning and implementing care needs and reviewing outcomes.
* Experience of supervising and managing staff.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Additional Information
* Contract: Permanent, full‑time.
* Band: 6 – Pay scheme: Agenda for Change – Salary: £38,682 to £46,580 per annum.
* Location: PICU – Calder Ward, Royal Blackburn Hospital, Blackburn (BB2 3HH).
