Interim Payroll Administrator - Barnstaple - Full Time/ Part time - 12 month fixed term contract
£28,000 - £32,000 (negotiable)
Trial Balance Consulting are pleased to be working with a well-established North Devon based business to recruit a Payroll Administrator on a 12 month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.
This is a hands-on role within a busy and fast paced environment, supporting payroll for a workforce of approximately 30 salaried and 110 hourly paid employees working across varied shift patterns. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring payroll is processed accurately and on time, while supporting the wider finance and HR function where required.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Processing payroll for both salaried and hourly paid staff
- Managing payroll inputs including timesheets, overtime, and shift variations
- Ensuring compliance with PAYE and UK employment legislation
- Maintaining accurate payroll records and resolving queries
- Liaising with internal teams and employees to support payroll queries Supporting reporting and payroll related administration
- Working across different areas of the business where required
We are seeking someone with at least two years’ experience in a similar payroll role, with strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and processes. Experience using Sage 50 Payroll is highly desirable, alongside excellent Excel skills.
The successful candidate will be highly organised, detail focused, and able to work effectively under pressure. A proactive approach, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage workloads independently will be key.
