Job Description
We are currently working in partnership with a City Council based in the North-East, who are recruiting for a Contract Lawyer on an initial three-month temporary contract. The position is due to start immediately, with an hourly rate that is negotiable dependent upon experience.
The successful candidate will have Local Government experience, as well as ideally be familiar with the IKEN case management system.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
* Drafting and issuing various types of agreement for the provision and purchase of all goods and services across the Council ensuring adequate protections are in place for the Council and in providing consistency and value:
* For example, grant funding agreements with the providers of the Holiday Activities and Food Programme over summer, Christmas and Easter
* Amending existing contracts where necessary to extend, vary or terminate
* Reviewing and negotiating terms for risks and inconsistencies with suppliers
* Being proactive in issuing correspondence and advice to avoid potential contractual disputes
* Conducting legal research and help clients make informed decisions on contracts and procurement queries, intellectual property, subsidy control and data protection
* Working closely with procurement and commissioning on procurement of services
