Job Description
A great opportunity for a junior design engineer to join an expanding building services based company, specialising in building safety.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in creating system layout drawings and design documents using CAD software.
* Support senior engineers in producing calculations, schematics, and technical designs.
* Help prepare technical documentation, equipment schedules, and O&M information.
* Undertake site surveys and support feasibility assessments when required.
* Communicate with internal teams, clients, and contractors to resolve basic design queries.
* Ensure all work is accurate, compliant, and delivered to required standards.
* Learn and develop knowledge of fire suppression system design, industry regulations, and best practices.
Skills & Experience Required
* Some experience in M&E, building services, general construction, or related engineering environments.
* Basic to intermediate experience using CAD software (AutoCAD or similar).
* Ability to read or interpret drawings is beneficial.
* Strong willingness to learn technical concepts such as hydraulic systems, compliance standards, and engineering principles.
* Good communication skills and attention to detail.
* Problem-solving mindset with enthusiasm for developing a career in engineering design.
* Understanding of mechanical or electrical building systems.
* Exposure to fire protection systems or building compliance (advantageous but not required).
* Engineering-related qualifications (e.g., BTEC, HNC/HND, or degree).
