Role Overview
We are looking for a Pharmacy Technician to join our diverse, talented healthcare team and deliver high‑standard care within the prison setting. This role integrates mental, physical, and substance misuse pharmacy services to support prisoners’ rehabilitation and future reintegration.
Key Responsibilities
* Administer medicines to patients against valid prescriptions and ensure correct use.
* Dispense prescriptions and stock items, including stock top‑up services and expiry date reviews.
* Supervise assistants in the dispensary and provide dispensing services.
* Report deficiencies to the prison service pharmacist and assist in writing, updating, and monitoring medicines optimisation SOPs.
* Provide patient advice on medicine use and healthy lifestyles to support rehabilitation.
* Work as part of a 7‑day, 7‑day rota to provide medicines administration service to offenders.
Essential Requirements
* Willingness to undertake National Security Vetting as a pre‑employment check.
* Proof of right to work, photographic ID, and proof of address.
* Non‑UK passport holders must provide correct documentation and a Home Office share code.
* 5‑year address history; if fewer, provide an English police certificate.
* UK passport holders who have lived abroad > 6 months in the last 3 years must provide a certificate of good conduct or overseas police check (in English).
* Experience in dispensing, stock control, and standard operating procedures in a pharmacy setting is desirable.
* Strong communication skills and a commitment to patient‑centred care.
