Only About Children - Part Time Kitchen Hand
Only About Children Torquay are looking to welcome a kitchen hand to our team to work alongside and support the cook in the day-to-day preparation of meals for our children. You will play a key role in food preparation, cooking, kitchen hygiene and cleanliness, ordering and storing of food/ingredients, and overall presentation of the kitchen. Our Torquay service was newly built in December 2024, so you will be working in a modern, purpose-built kitchen with ample space and great faciltiies to support your role.
We are looking for a kitchen hand to work with us 4 days, 20 hours per week. Ideally we would love someone who is also able to oversee the kitchen when our cook is on leave to support a smooth transition. As a kitchen hand, your role may involve:
* Assist the cook to prepare and cook meals as per OAC Nutrition menu
* Ensure kitchen cleanliness and hygiene at all times
* Understanding and awareness of allergies
* Communicate with team, families, and children in a warm and professional manner
* Ensure food stock and orders are put away and stored correctly
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
* Food Safety Certificate or other relevent qualifications
* Team-based, hands-on, collaborative approach to your practices.
* Ability to communicate, connect, and involve families & children
* An understanding of current food regulations
* A focus on children's safety and wellbeing in everything you do
