Band 3 Older Person Mental Health (HCA) Inpatient

Are you passionate about Older Person's Mental Health Nursing? Are you looking for a demanding but rewarding career? An exciting opportunity has arisen; we are currently recruiting four HCAs for our Functional and Organic Wards, Sunniside and Cragside. Both wards are situated within the grounds of The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead, sharing the same building.
Sunniside Ward: Provides inpatient admission, assessment, treatment, and discharge planning for patients diagnosed with a Functional Mental Health illness, over the age of 65.
Cragside Ward: A specialist inpatient service for assessing people over 65 with Dementia.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for caring, empathetic, enthusiastic, and motivated individuals who have a desire to improve the lives of older people suffering from mental health problems.
The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting patient recovery. Responsibilities include communicating with patients, relatives, and carers; assisting with clinical duties; providing personal care, including infection prevention and control, food, hygiene, and ensuring reassurance, comfort, and safety.
You should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be motivated to engage with our patient group and ward environment.
