Who We’re Looking For
There’s no typical Youth Justice Worker. Our people come from different backgrounds, just like the offenders they work with. Whether you’re a parent, teacher, have worked in retail or the armed forces, you’ll have developed empathy, self-confidence, and excellent communication skills.
You will need to build constructive, positive, and professional relationships with children and young people who may be at their lowest point.
Teamwork is vital, so you must be committed to supporting colleagues and acting as part of a team to ensure safety for the prison, offenders, and staff.
You will be required to work various shifts and weekends.
What Makes This Job Extraordinary
In this unique career, you’ll perform many different roles daily—sometimes a peacekeeper, other times a counselor or teacher. You’ll work directly with prisoners in a unique environment, helping to protect the public and make a positive impact.
