Join to apply for the Customer Delivery Driver - Hanley Extra role at Tesco. Our Customer Delivery Driver rate of pay starts from £13.35 an hour; this increases to £14.56 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.
It's our policy to offer new colleagues joining us a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, but if you'd like to work fewer hours (to a minimum of 12) we have opportunities for this too and would still love to hear from you.
Customers are at the heart of everything we do. As the face of Tesco on the road, we deliver all the way from Lands End to John O Groats. Our Customer Delivery Drivers get the opportunity to meet and talk to different customers in their homes every day. This role is about more than driving: it’s about helping others and delivering great service with a smile.
Availability and schedule
The table shows the periods of time in the week we’d like you to be available to work—the availability windows. We will schedule your contracted hours within these times, and you’ll have 3 weeks’ notice of exactly when your shifts will be. We are happy to support flexibility for our colleagues; if your available times match closely but not exactly the advertised times, we’d still love to hear from you.
Responsibilities
* Delivering your part of our customer shopping trip by ensuring the van and trays are clean and tidy, leaving the back yard clean and free of rubbish, and picking up litter as needed.
* Ensuring trays are washed as part of the tray wash process and loading the van while checking its roadworthiness.
* Talking to customers about changes to their order, including substitutions, offering refunds for items they are unhappy with.
* Taking care of products/deliveries as if they were your own and delivering during the customer's time slot.
* Calling the customer before arriving if you are early and calling the store if you are running 30 minutes or more late.
Requirements
* Build relationships with colleagues to create team spirit and ensure the store is the best it can be for customers.
* Be warm and welcoming in interactions with customers and colleagues, taking time to understand the customer and say "Thank you."
* Act quickly to respond to changing customer needs and embrace change within the store.
* Be energetic and driven to deliver beyond expectations, balancing home and work commitments.
* Share ideas with your Manager and colleagues on how to improve the store for customers.
* Have a valid UK/EU/EEA Driving licence (Full or Automatic only) for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points.
