Role
To support the learning, emotional, and social needs of children/young people within the residential home. Residential Support Worker will be required to participate in recording, monitoring, and evaluating individual child strategies/support.
Duties
This job description describes the general duties expected of the post-holder. However, the job or duties may vary or be amended from time to time without changing the level of responsibility associated with the post.
Hours of Work
Residential Care Workers are required to work hours necessary to fulfill their tasks. Their hours will be determined by their management team, in consultation with the Senior Management Team. Unsociable hours, including weekends, evenings, and Bank Holidays, are an integral part of the post.
Responsibilities
1. Assist in the educational, social, emotional, and behavioural development of children/young people under the guidance of Management and support.
2. Help develop the house environment ensuring high standards of care within the model of care.
3. Implement and monitor Personal Education Programmes for children/young people.
4. Implement and monitor Individual Care Plans for children/young people.
5. Provide primary care for each child/young person and support healthy attachments.
6. Be responsible for the care of children/young people while on rota, under supervision.
7. Participate in sleeping-in duties as required.
8. Maintain good relationships with professionals, team members, management, parents, and other agencies.
9. Support and evaluate children/young people's emotional and behavioural difficulties and social skills development.
10. Ensure health and safety standards are maintained in accordance with legal requirements and best practices.
11. Participate in mandatory and other training as required.
12. Engage in ongoing supervision and develop an understanding of children/young people's behaviour.
13. Develop specific work projects with children/young people under supervision.
14. Maintain high standards of communication and documentation.
15. Contribute to children/young people's development through activities and social opportunities inside and outside the home.

2. Set a good example in dress, punctuality, and attendance.
3. Attend all staff meetings and undertake assigned duties.
4. Undertake other reasonable duties as required.

1. Maintain awareness of Fire and Health & Safety Regulations.
2. Contribute to the development and implementation of equality objectives and targets.
3. Promote a positive approach to all children/young people and ensure services reflect this.
Qualifications
Hold the Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce or be willing to work towards it following a successful six-month probation.
Requirements
Attributes
Essential criteria include experience working with children in care or school settings, good educational achievement, ability to produce clear reports, and willingness to undertake mandatory training including Positive Management of Challenging Behaviour. Willingness to complete the Level 3 Diploma.
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of Race Equality and Equal Opportunities, understanding of Health and Safety, Child Protection procedures, enthusiasm for care and education, organizational skills, teamwork, creativity, firm boundaries, a full driving license, and IT skills.
