You will be able to demonstrate a high level of knowledge and skills, including proficiency in extended clinical roles expected in the care of the acute patient. As a Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse, you should be able to make justified decisions in the absence of the Sister and assist in developing nurse-led services.
Requirements include previous experience with the NHS and Acute medicine. You must work well under pressure and build strong communication links with the Clinical Site Team, Emergency Department, Management, and Multi-Disciplinary Teams.
You will oversee a designated team, organizing training, appraisals, support, and development, as well as addressing complaints and adverse incidents.
Responsibilities include the safe coordination of the Same Day Emergency Care Clinic on a shift-to-shift basis to ensure timely patient flow and maintaining clinic safety, escalating issues as needed.
You will deliver planned care to patients within the standards outlined by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and Trust policies. Working effectively as part of a team, you will support and guide less experienced staff and learners.
You will be responsible for a team of junior staff, ensuring timely appraisals and training updates.
Our values underpin our approach to patient care and teamwork at #TeamUHD. UHD is investing in service development following the merger and the New Hospital Programme.
The role is based at Poole with an expectation of cross-site working. The service will move to the Bournemouth site in January 2026, and the successful candidate will be expected to relocate. Travel from home to the new work base will be considered part of a normal commute, with no excess mileage reimbursement.
