Independent Visitor Lead Coordinator (for the Nottingham/shire IV Service)

Permanent with funding until March 2026 (with view to extend)

25 hours per week

£21,857.14 pro rata

Location - Castle Cavendish Works, Dorking Road, Nottingham, NG7 5PN

The Independent Visitor's (IV) Lead is responsible for recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers who act as Independent Visitors for children and young people in care. We are looking for an experienced practitioner or volunteer coordinator who can successfully engage volunteers, young people and other professionals.

The Independent Visitor Lead is the key central support for volunteer recruitment and the wider volunteer journey at The Children's Society, recruiting, supporting and managing volunteers with everything they need to be involved effectively. This is a varied and rewarding role, working with volunteers to ensure that together we can achieve the maximum positive change and transform the lives of children and young people. We are currently looking for someone who is passionate about volunteering to join our dynamic, ambitious and child centered team.

A key part of this role will be your ability to:

* To demonstrate experience and understanding of recruiting, assessing and training volunteers to high standards, and have knowledge of providing support and supervision of volunteers within best practice and compliance with policies and procedures. Understanding of matching volunteers with children and young people is essential.
* You will be able to demonstrate exceptional communication skills and have experience of networking to develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with stakeholders. You will have a drive to be inclusive of all, recognising the value in a diversity of backgrounds, perspectives and approaches.
* You will be organised, with experience of managing and maintaining records and providing reports and monitoring. You will be able to demonstrate experience of evaluating service provision and outcomes to support the Service and Area Managers to review processes and improve quality of service.

In order to be successful in this role, you must have:

* GCSE English and Maths or equivalent
* Working knowledge of legislation as it relates to children and young people
* Experience of working with children and young people in the care system
* Passionate about the values and challenges of volunteering
* The skills and attributes to communicate with a wide section of the community, putting people who want to volunteer at ease as well as supporting them to fulfil the role to a good standard.
