Whistledown Scotland is seeking a dynamic and engaged Business Development Manager who is passionate about the audio and podcast industry and ready to help us progress to the next stage of our expansion in Glasgow. Your goal will ultimately be to progress, launch, and guide our unique podcast studio business towards success during your contract.
Who we are
Whistledown is one of the UK’s leading independent audio production companies, with over 20 years of creating world‑class audio content for the BBC, Audible, and other global brands. In 2019, Whistledown Scotland was set up from an office based in Finnieston, Glasgow, producing BBC Radio 4's Feedback and other programs and podcasts from Scotland’s largest and most creative city. Following funding from the 2026 BBC Small Indie Fund, we are looking for a dynamic, entrepreneurial Business Development Manager to join our small Glasgow team and develop our operations in Scotland. This is a part‑time role and the successful candidate will be expected to be in the office two days a week. The contract is offered for one year at a salary of £19,200.

* Developing business for Whistledown Scotland’s new podcast studio: transform the studio into a profitable business unit, oversee marketing to potential clients, streamline operations to minimise costs and increase profits, liaise with contractors, and identify diverse revenue streams (dry hire, corporate packages, visualised podcast productions).
* Strategic growth: identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships and commissions, expand footprint nationally, establish contacts and pitch podcast formats to leading brands, charities, organisations, and institutions.
* Marketing & brand strategy: develop and implement marketing campaigns to put Whistledown Scotland on the map.
* Social media management: produce high‑quality original copy and audio‑first content for our social media channels and website to showcase our work in the digital sphere.

* Experience in project management and scaling small businesses/studios with a focus on lead generation.
* Experience working with brands and corporations and liaising with high‑profile clients.
* A high degree of autonomy and comfort setting own goals and working under own initiative in a fast‑paced environment.
* Exceptional copy‑writing skills.
* Experience managing professional social channels with a focus on community growth and lead generation.
* Confident use of IT tools such as Google Drive, Zoom, Outlook, or equivalent systems.
