A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join BEAR Scotland's NW Operations team as a Roadworker.
The North West Trunk Road Unit covers approximately 1,422 km of trunk roads through some of Scotland's most scenic areas. It includes 1,501 bridges and structures, such as the Kessock Bridge on the A9 north of Inverness and the A87 Skye Crossing.
The unit's coverage extends from Thurso and Wick in the north of the Highlands to Campbeltown in Argyll and Bute, and from Uig on Skye to Perth and Stirling in the central belt.
The Roadworker will assist with various road maintenance tasks, including carriageway patching, traffic sign erection, drainage works, footway improvements, traffic management, and cyclic duties like grip cleaning, sign washing, and gully cleaning. The role also involves participation in a 24-hour incident response rota to handle incidents on the trunk road, such as RTCs and flooding. Candidates with an HGV license will join the winter maintenance rota during colder months, operating snow ploughs.
Role includes:
* Experience as a roadworker or construction worker is preferred; however, full training will be provided.
* A driving license is essential, preferably with HGV entitlement; HGV training will be provided to suitable candidates.
* Flexibility, punctuality, reliability, a hardworking attitude, and enthusiasm are crucial for this role.
