Customer Analytics Manager – Up to £75,000 + Car Allowance
Knowsley – Hybrid (3 days per week in office, 2 from home)
A leading UK retail brand is hiring a Customer Analytics Manager to own the customer data strategy, lead a team of six analysts, and deliver insights that shape business-critical decisions across marketing, ecommerce, and commercial operations. This is a strategic role requiring strong SQL skills, leadership experience, and a deep understanding of customer behaviour in a retail or ecommerce environment.
The Company
A household name in the UK retail sector with a strong ecommerce and in-store presence. Customer behaviour and health are at the heart of business decision-making, and this role sits at the forefront of ensuring that customer data drives strategy. You will work closely with Sarah Welsh, Chief Product, Brand & Commercial Officer, alongside other senior leaders.
The Team
You will lead a talented team of six analysts with varying technical skills:
- Hannah & Yevgen (Ecommerce)
- Michael, Amelia & Sean (Customer)
- Matt (Engineering)
Your role will be to mentor, upskill, and guide the team while also ensuring delivery of business-critical insights.
The Role
As Customer Analytics Manager, you will combine leadership with hands-on technical skills. You will deliver key insights on customer health, behaviour, profitability, and lifecycle that directly inform commercial strategy. Proactivity and a strategic mindset are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead customer analytics strategy, working with senior stakeholders across brand, product, and commercial
- Provide actionable insights into customer behaviour, health, churn, and lifetime value
- Use SQL (BigQuery) to extract, manipulate, and analyse customer and sales datasets
- Mentor and develop a team of six analysts across customer, ecommerce, and engineering
- Support marketing and ecommerce analytics initiatives, including campaign and web analysis
- Drive decisions on customer profitability, acquisition, and retention strategies
- Present insights clearly to senior stakeholders, influencing decision-making at the highest level
Your Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate is an experienced analytics leader with strong technical and commercial acumen.
Essential:
- Strong SQL skills (BigQuery preferred)
- Proven leadership/line management experience
- Retail or ecommerce background
- Ability to deliver strategic, actionable insights from customer data
- Experience working closely with senior stakeholders
Nice to Have:
- Marketing analytics or ecommerce analytics experience
- Web analytics exposure
- Strong presentation and stakeholder engagement skills
