A Tier 1 contractor delivering major civil engineering works is seeking a Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager to lead health and safety across a structures and earthworks delivery unit. This role requires strong technical oversight, leadership capability, and the ability to embed compliant, high-performing H&S systems across complex site operations.
About the Role
You will operate as a key interface between site teams, contract management, and senior leadership, ensuring the effective implementation of health and safety management systems aligned to statutory requirements and recognised standards.
Responsibilities
* Leading implementation of H&S management systems in line with regulatory and organisational requirements
* Managing H&S assurance across planning, coordination, and execution of works
* Overseeing incident investigation processes including root cause analysis and corrective actions
* Monitoring, analysing, and reporting H&S performance data to identify trends and interventions
* Providing technical H&S advice to operational teams and contract management
* Supporting development of risk assessments and safe systems of work
* Engaging with internal and external stakeholders including regulatory bodies where required
* Driving continuous improvement and promoting best practice across the delivery unit
Qualifications
* Extensive experience in civil engineering or infrastructure H&S management
* Demonstrated leadership of H&S teams within live construction environments
* NEBOSH qualification or equivalent professional certification
* Strong knowledge of H&S legislation, compliance frameworks, and management systems
* Experience in assurance, audit, and performance monitoring activities
* Ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive behavioural change
Required Skills
* Rail or Network Rail project experience
* Experience working on large scale infrastructure programmes
* Progression towards chartered IOSH membership

* West Ruislip, London
* Hybrid working, 4 days on site and 1 day from home
