A leading foodservice organisation is seeking an experienced Warehouse Manager to oversee its Back Shift operations at a busy Glasgow distribution site. This senior role is responsible for managing a large warehouse team, ensuring efficient, accurate, and safe operations throughout the evening and night.
About the Role
The Warehouse Manager – Back Shift will manage the full warehouse function during the late shift, ensuring high standards of productivity, accuracy, and health & safety. You will lead a sizeable team of operatives and supervisors, maintain tight control of stock movements, and ensure orders are picked and loaded correctly for next‑day delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage Back Shift warehouse operations from 5pm onwards.
* Oversee a team of warehouse operatives and supervisors, ensuring staffing levels meet operational needs.
* Ensure accurate and efficient picking, packing, loading, and stock handling.
* Maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping, and compliance throughout the shift.
* Monitor performance KPIs and drive continuous improvement.
* Work collaboratively with the Logistics Director and other operational managers to meet service targets.
* Ensure stock integrity through accurate recording, investigations, and corrective actions.
* Lead team training, development, and performance management.
* Support recruitment and onboarding of warehouse staff.
* Take responsibility for shift planning, workflow management, and issue resolution.
Requirements
* Proven experience in warehouse management or a senior supervisory role within logistics, distribution, or foodservice.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, develop, and manage a large team.
* Excellent understanding of warehouse processes, stock control, and operational workflows.
* Strong communication, organisational, and problem‑solving abilities.
* Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
* Commitment to safety, accuracy, and operational excellence.
* Flexibility and resilience to manage a late‑shift operation starting at 5pm.
