This opportunity is ideal for graduates with limited experience who are enthusiastic, patient, and naturally able to build strong, trusting relationships with young children. What your day-to-day will look like: No two days are ever the same — and that’s exactly what makes this role so rewarding. You’ll play a key part in supporting children with additional needs as they begin their school journey, helping to create a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment. Your morning might begin by welcoming a child into the classroom, helping them settle, and setting a calm tone for the day. From there, you’ll work closely with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, adapting your support to suit their individual needs. You may find yourself: Sitting alongside a child during phonics sessions, helping them recognise sounds and develop early reading skills Reading stories together, building confidence and encouraging a love of books Supporting sensory and play-based activities tailored to different learning styles Guiding pupils through routines, transitions, and social interactions A huge part of your role will be building rapport — being that consistent, friendly, and reassuring presence. You’ll celebrate every small achievement, encourage independence, and help children grow in both confidence and ability.
