Building Services Engineer
Location: UK Remote - Mobile Working
Period: Full time
Salary: Up to £55,000

Based at home, working as a nationally mobile technical support specialist across approximately 100 properties in the Yugo Managed Estate portfolio in the UK, supporting the Building Services Manager in delivering the following services:
Responsibilities
1. Support to the Building Services / FM Support Team and stakeholders for specification, scheduling, delivery, recording, and reporting of planned and reactive maintenance, emergency works, and projects.
2. Conduct Acceptance into Service activities, including design review, H&S file review, functional testing, witnessing, observation, and defect identification (latent issues, failure patterns, material choices).
3. Identify technical issues within the estate and undertake investigations and reviews as instructed or necessary.
4. Prepare professional reports on estate issues, referencing applicable statutes, regulations, standards, and industry guidance.
5. Register, track, and report building and service defects, operational difficulties, and maintenance issues, including causality analysis and property owner notifications. Propose solutions, estimate costs, and support business cases for remedial works.
6. Assist with desktop H&S file reviews, data gathering, analysis, and reporting.
7. Conduct desktop and physical site asset surveys to determine asset types, quantities, conditions, and compile asset schedules.
8. Provide technical support and advice on building services, including fabric, mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
9. Create project work packages and scope/specifications for contracts.
10. Manage Requests for Quotation/Tender for project works, including lifecycle replacements and estate improvements (e.g., ESG initiatives).
11. Generate cost estimates for estate projects using industry guides (SPONS, CIBSE, IET, RICS/BCIS).
12. Maintain and report on backlog and lifecycle works registers.
13. Manage specialist subcontractors, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies.
14. Perform other duties as reasonably required within the scope of the role.
Qualifications
• Relevant technical or building services degree or equivalent
• Experience in a similar role within a large multi-client estate
• Knowledge of UK health, safety, environmental legislation, and construction management
• Familiarity with UK Building Regulations, standards, and legislation
• Strong analytical, organizational, and planning skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
