Head of Farming
To lead the Farming team through a period of significant change, both within our business and due to new agricultural policies following the repatriation to Westminster. The Head of Farming is responsible for creating and implementing the Company’s Farming business strategy in the short, medium, and long term.
Responsibilities
1. Work with the Head of Rural to develop and implement effective business plans and vision.
2. Ensure the delivery of the agreed strategy and promote high performance across the Farming department.
3. Foster a business development culture to retain existing clients and acquire new ones.
4. Manage client relationships personally.
5. Collaborate with the Head of Rural to improve processes through training, communication, and system development.
6. Achieve departmental budgets and reforecast as needed.
7. Communicate financial information effectively within the department.
8. Provide visionary and inspirational leadership.
9. Promote and communicate the company’s vision for rural and farming businesses.
10. Work with leadership and HR to recruit suitable talent and foster a high-performance team.
11. Mentor and develop future leaders, identifying top talent.
12. Embed a business development ethos within the team.
13. Model exemplary organizational behavior.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, highly numerate, adaptable, and flexible. They should be an experienced agriculturalist who can represent Strutt & Parker with credibility, articulate the business vision, and develop clear plans to enhance performance and achieve measurable results.
Qualifications
* Degree in an agricultural discipline.
* MRICS qualification (desirable but not required).
* CAAV qualification (desirable but not required).
* BASIS and FACTS certifications (desirable but not required).
Experience
* Proven track record in the farming sector, with strong consultancy and client management skills.
* Experience in team leadership, inspiring teams to improve performance and profitability.
* Strong market presence as a leader and in new business development.
* Experience delivering presentations, reports, and commentary across various media including in-person groups, press, webinars, and podcasts.
