Fire and Security BDM

My client is one of the UK’s leading independent providers of Security, Life Safety, and Conflict Management Systems. They are a well-established, innovative company that continues to grow organically.
They currently have an opening for an experienced Business Development Manager who can work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
While field-based, you will be expected to spend time at the Mansfield office and report directly to the Managing/Sales Director, especially during the probationary period.
Daily tasks will include:
1. Sourcing and developing sales opportunities and self-generating leads
2. Promoting company products and services
3. Attending site surveys
4. Designing and costing systems
5. Producing high-quality proposals and quotations
6. Producing sales files for handover to operations
7. Managing sales pipeline to maximize sales output
8. Achieving sales targets for installation and maintenance sales
9. Achieving company margins
10. Maintaining accurate records and keeping the sales CRM up to date daily
11. Ensuring timely and accurate reporting
12. Attending shows to promote the company
13. Liaising with the operations team for smooth sale transition into operations
Candidate Skills and Attributes:
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following qualities and experience:
1. A minimum of 5 years industry experience in systems and maintenance sales
2. A proven track record in major and/or national accounts business development and account retention over the last 3 years
3. The ability to meet and exceed sales goals
4. Strong organizational and planning skills for account development and time management
5. Ability to design security and life safety systems within target markets
6. Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, both written and verbal
7. Team player with willingness to share skills and experience
8. A strong CV with a balanced work history
9. Ability to produce a sales business plan detailing sales, profit, and costs
10. A clean driving license
11. No criminal record that would prevent vetting success
Salary and Benefits:
The starting salary is commensurate with experience and business plan output. You will also be entitled to commission, to be agreed prior to commencement, reviewed after the first year.
Holiday entitlement is 20 days plus bank holidays, increasing to 22 days after 2 years of service.
Company Vehicle:
The company offers a personal vehicle scheme with the maximum permitted sum allowed by Customs and Excise. A company vehicle will be provided for the first six months if requested.
Hours of Work:
08:00 Monday to Friday
Training:
Training is available and may include:
1. Internal product training on the company’s unique products and services (e.g., StaffGuard vIP, TruckGuard, VeriGuard, Response Service Programme)
2. Fire Detection Systems Design and Fundamentals to BS5839-1:2017 from the British Fire Consortium
3. Microsoft Visio Drawing via online course
Ongoing review and additional training will be provided as needed.
Work-Life Balance:
