Purpose of the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Manager to join our Asset Management workstream, the role will be based in Speke, L24 9JT. Our Asset Management teams are recognised leaders within the highways industry, delivering comprehensive services that span the full asset lifecycle, from survey, design and concept development through to construction and ongoing maintenance. The role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile infrastructure projects, including highway maintenance, surfacing and traffic management, within a dynamic and commercially focused environment.
The Finance Manager plays a pivotal and driving part in supporting the wider team in the management of budgets and providing timely financial insight and analysis. Reporting into the Commercial Finance Manager, the Finance Manager supports and, in some areas, takes the lead, in the day to day management of budgets for their business areas, working independently and directly with different departments.
Main Responsibilities
The role encompasses full contract financial control and reporting, ensuring accurate and fair representation of contract positions, including work in progress, reserves, accruals, provisions, risks and opportunities, and debt. A strong emphasis is placed on cash management through oversight of cash flow forecasting and debt collection. Close collaboration with Project Management and Commercial teams is essential to drive performance, enhance profitability and ensure compliance with Group accounting policies and Head Office requirements. You will lead on the preparation of accurate monthly management accounts, including quarter-end and year-end close processes, and consolidate month-end reporting with clear variance analysis against forecast. The role also supports budgeting, three-year planning and regular reforecasting, alongside monitoring overheads, reserves, provisions and capital expenditure, including preparing business cases for key investments. In addition, you will ensure accurate cost capture and allocation across projects and departments, manage sales invoicing and payroll entries, and oversee accruals, costing and general ledger journals, maintaining strong financial discipline and the integrity of accounting records throughout.
Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be a Qualified Accountant IMA/ACCA/ACA or equivalent. They will have a minimum of 5 years post qualification relevant experience as a Finance Manager, working within a construction and infrastructure services sector. The ability to influence, challenge and support both financial and non-financial managers, along with being able to deliver credible analysis and insight into the results. This is a commercially focused role requiring a proactive individual who can provide timely financial insight and analysis to support operational decision-making, while working independently across multiple departments and maintaining strong financial governance and control.
Package Description

* A salary between £45,000 and £65,000 (dependent on experience) PLUS Company Car/Car Allowance
