About New Bridge School
Part of the wider New Bridge Multi‑Academy Trust (MAT), New Bridge School is a generic special needs school for pupils and students between the ages of 11 and 19 across four sites within Oldham. The school has an Outstanding rated provision which caters for 380 pupils with a wide range of SEND, from moderate learning difficulties to profound and multiple learning difficulties, including severe and complex learning difficulties. The school is popular with families both in Oldham and the surrounding boroughs and our numbers are increasing year on year. The school also caters for a wide range of pupils including those with physical disabilities, multisensory impairments, visual impairments, hearing impairments and autism spectrum conditions. All pupils have an EHC plan and the school has developed a range of different provisions, including our Key Stage 3 main body, Autism Base, Interactive Base and KS4 Pathways.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and deliver the Dance and Drama curriculum to pupils across the different provisions.
* Provide opportunities for pupils to engage in a range of creative and imaginative role‑play situations, with and without others.
* Use dramatic activities and movement to enable pupils to explore cultural and human issues, share ideas and respond to others.
* Support the development of transferable skills, communication skills, well‑being and an understanding of the world through dance and drama.
* Deliver lessons to pupils across all our provisions, including those with profound and multiple learning needs, moderate learning needs, autism and associated communication needs.
* Produce inclusive extra‑curricular shows and performances, linking with external performing arts companies.
Qualifications and Experience
* Excellent practitioner with the commitment and motivation to inspire pupils’ learning and development.
* Experience of teaching young people with Autism or Special Educational Needs, or a specific interest in developing skills for a special school setting.
* High expectations of young people and commitment to raising standards of attainment.
* Experience of enhancing pupil progress gains and raising attainment and achievement levels of all students.
* Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation through imaginative and differentiated lessons.
* Knowledge of current assessment practice, data and pupil progress tracking.
* Emotional and physical resilience necessary when working with young people with complex needs.
* Ability to build positive relationships with the class group, ensuring consistency and continuity.
* Good relationships with other staff, pupils, parents and the wider community.
* Hard working, organised and proactive in professional development.
* Team player able to work effectively with all members of the New Bridge team.
Working Conditions
Salary: Teachers’ Pay Scale + SEN (£2,787 per annum)
Hours of work: 1.0 FTE
Based: Initially at New Bridge School, Roman Road, Hollinwood
Commencing: January 2026 (dependent on notice)
Status: Permanent
Closing Date: Monday 8th December 2025 (9am)
