We are looking for an Engineering Technician to join our Engineering Team within our Currency division. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a manufacturing environment with experience in performing maintenance works minimizing downtime and ensuring optimum production performance in order to guarantee that the needs of our customers are met. You will need to be a time served apprentice Engineer, that is multi skilled with either an electrical or mechanical bias. ROLE PURPOSE AND SUMMARY To provide engineering support to ensure the delivery of the department strategy. Delivering technical expertise to ensure site compliance and support to engineering issues and concerns through both maintenance, technical and facilities teams. Ensure all equipment and processes meet with current standards and requirements. Maintain all production, plant and ancilliary equipment, ensuring optimum production performance, minimising equipment downtime and ensuring reliability through a proactive approach to maintenance. Delivery of continuous improvement strategies and support/lead projects to improve equipment efficiencies. Flexibility to work and support across all engineering functions. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Individual • Support operations in a professional manner to ensure all business targets are met across all functions • Conduct inspections, assessments and compliance checks on plant and systems to ensure compliance against regulations • Support all breakdowns and maintenance work as/when required including facilities • Support direct line manager in delivery of projects and site requirements • Perform periodic maintenance checks and procedures on production, plant and support equipment to maximise equipment uptime/performance. • Identify/perform and deliver PPM maintenance and provide support/training to other DLR staff. • Identify/deliver technical solutions to productions concerns. • Complete electrical/mechanical installs and equipment moves. • Identify and mitigate business risk due to obsolescent hardware/software • Ensure department safety is deployed, ensuring control of contractors, reviewing RAMS and creating/reviewing PTW procedures. • Update and provide department report as/when required • To review/analyse data to identify areas of improvement. • Respond to equipment and plant breakdowns when required in a timely manner to ensure continuity of production, report findings and record solutions. • Ensure maintenance management system is updated for data collection. • Identify and source spare part stock to maximise the availability of production equipment. • Complete, promote and deliver RA’s and SOP to ensure team compliance the site HSSE • To provide support and advice on potential operational and performance improvements including, training and documentation. • To support the introduction of new equipment including Training, Installation, Commissioning, Customer handover and maintenance. • Liaise with machine vendors to resolve problematic issues. • To provide support to production teams in problem solving activities. • Be flexible in terms of hours and shifts to support shift maintenance and facilities teams. • To maintain a high standard of workmanship, work safely, and comply with current Health, Safety & Environmental legislation at all times. • To undertake projects within the scope of production and support services and suggest/support continuous improvements to proactively support the Engineering/Maintenance regime. • Work within security procedures adhering to company security policies. • Participate in performance development review meetings, engaging in a constructive discussion. • To undertake additional training as determined through PDR process or by training manager, including mandatory training essential to role duties • Use record keeping tools to ensure equipment defect history is maintained. • Analyse equipment performance to drive OEE. • Produce and present equipment performance reports. The above list is not exhaustive. You will be required to undertake other duties within your capabilities, consistent with this role, to support the needs of the business. Contract type : Permanent Working hours : Double Day shift pattern – Monday to Friday, 6am – 2pm or 2pm - 10pm (alternated weekly). From 31st August 2026, we will transition to a 24/5 Shift Pattern - consists of 3 crews of 12-hour shifts of either: 6.00 am to 6.00 pm; and 6.00 pm to 6.00 am, Monday to Friday rota. Attendance is 40 hours per week on average, including a 30-minute unpaid break plus a 15-minute unpaid break to be taken during the shift. Base location : Debden Basic Salary : £54,561 on Double Days, rising to £57,300 per annum on 24/5 shift pattern. Upon successful completion of a 6-month probation period, this will rise to £58,286 per annum. Skills, Qualifications & Experience • HNC level or equivalent in an Electrical/Electronic or mechanical discipline • Experience and working knowledge of using a CMMS • Good working knowledge of the BMS control • 18th Edition Elect regs / city and guilds inspection/testing • PUWER • An active contributing member of a progressive flexible engineering team. • Knowledge in continuous improvement techniques, 5S, SMED, Lean and Six Sigma an advantage. • IT Literate, fully conversant with MS Excel &Word • Fully conversant with intricate, electro-mechanical control systems. • The ability to read and understand technical Elec/Mech schematics. • Able to understand and improve complex process systems through the use of well-developed engineering skills.
