Based at our Walsall Readymix site, this role will proactively manage production across multiple Readymix plants and support the Readymix Operations Manager in delivering a sustainable, high‑performing, long‑term business plan aligned to national initiatives and excellence programmes.We are committed to creating a dynamic, inclusive working environment and welcome applicants from a wide range of backgrounds.Key ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Readymix Operations Manager, the Production Manager (Readymix) will lead production operations to deliver outstanding results across safety, performance, cost control and profitability, in line with budgetary and strategic targets.Responsibilities will include:Managing Health & Safety performance, driving continuous improvementWorking with production teams and senior leaders to embed operational strategies, with a strong focus on safety, cost, profitability, quality, people and customer serviceMeeting and exceeding budgetary targets and optimising CAPEX performanceEnsuring cost control discipline across the Readymix businessDriving the Readymix operational strategy and achieving all key KPI targetsLeading optimisation programmes across automation, cement reduction, overstrength, SD, material packages and cost efficiencyEnsuring efficiency and compliance with SOx requirementsWorking with estates and engineering teams to manage associated CAPEX projects.Supporting the commercial team in securing major Readymix contractsDeveloping and maintaining strong customer relationships, exceeding customer expectations through efficient operational processes.The Ideal CandidateYou will bring proven operational & leadership experience gained within Readymix or the wider mineral extractives sector, alongside a strong understanding of Readymix plant operations and capabilities.You will also demonstrate:Ability to demonstrate strong health, safety and environmental leadership through face to face engagementStrong understanding of the construction materials sectorProven experience managing operational teams in a similar environmentExcellent financial acumen through cost control and budget experienceStrong leadership capability with a results‑driven mindsetExperience in forward planning, analysis and risk identificationConfidence influencing stakeholders across multifunctional teamsStrong experience in operational optimisationAbility to make quality decisions, manage conflict and build trustResilience and adaptabilityA recognised Concrete Production qualification (UoD / Concrete Society etc.), with CPD‑maintained membership advantageousA recognised health and safety leadership qualification (SHE Lvl 4 / 6 / advantageous)Working knowledge of Excel, SAP, Nimrod and Command / BPL (advantageous)About TarmacTarmac is the UK's leading sustainable building materials and construction solutions business.
