An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Engineer - Lightweight Systems to join our Mechanical Engineering team. Reporting to the Principal Engineer for Lightweight Systems, this key role involves developing and delivering lightweight mechanical structures for high-performance applications across sectors such as heavy industry, mining, rail, naval, automotive, motorsport, aviation, and defense.
Job Role
* Prepare, review, and maintain system requirements documents, scope of work (SoW), functional specifications, interface control documents, system descriptions, designs, DFMEAs, and DVPs.
* Lead the system team, defining guidelines, allocating tasks, and monitoring resources to meet milestones. Provide performance feedback on resources working on projects.
* Plan and schedule project activities, including risk management plans, in collaboration with the Project Management department.
* Apply engineering fundamentals through hand calculations or theoretical analysis of mechanical structures.
* Oversee development testing, design validation, and verification activities.
* Guide and support R&D projects and collaborate with other departments or external suppliers.
* Create technical reports and customer documentation.
* Mentor, develop, and train team members to enhance organizational technical capabilities.
Qualifications and Skills
* Proven experience in Systems Engineering, Project Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar roles in heavy industry, mining, rail, or hydrogen storage and vehicles.
* Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Aerospace, Materials Engineering, or a relevant discipline.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing priorities effectively.
* Excellent communication skills with experience engaging diverse stakeholders.
