The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is the main provider of district general hospital services for nearly half a million people in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, and mid Wales.
Our main service locations are The Princess Royal Hospital in Telford and The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital in Shrewsbury, which together provide 99% of our activity. Both hospitals offer a wide range of acute hospital services including accident & emergency, outpatient services, diagnostics, inpatient medical care, and critical care. During 2012/13, the Princess Royal Hospital became our main specialist centre for inpatient head and neck surgery, and the main centre for inpatient Women and Children’s services. The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital became our main specialist centre for acute surgery, with new units and facilities. The hospitals together have just over 700 beds and assessment & treatment trolleys. We also provide community and outreach services such as outpatient clinics, midwife-led units, renal dialysis outreach, and other community services.

Job overview
We are seeking a motivated individual interested in providing a safe, high-quality Endoscopy Decontamination service at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford. Full-time and part-time hours are available.
You will work closely with the team to ensure excellent patient care, adhering to strict guidelines and protocols. After training, you will be expected to provide advice and expertise on decontamination practices.
You should be conscientious, detail-oriented, and possess GCSE grades 9-4 (or equivalent) in Maths and English. The role requires working efficiently in a busy environment with tight deadlines. Excellent communication, documentation, and record-keeping skills are essential. Experience is desirable but not required, as full training will be provided.

The role involves manual cleaning and decontamination of flexible endoscopes before and after procedures. Manual dexterity is essential. You will manage equipment to ensure scopes are ready for procedures and send scopes for servicing and repair as needed.
Working for our organisation
The Endoscopy Unit provides services including Gastroscopy, EUS, Sigmoidoscopy, Colonoscopy, Bronchoscopy, EBUS, and PEG insertion. The unit operates 7 days a week, including weekends and bank holidays. We support professional development with in-house training.
