In June 2025, LYB announced entering into an agreement and exclusive negotiations for the sale of four olefins & polyolefins sites and the associated business in Europe. The sites to be sold are located in Berre (France), Münchsmünster (Germany), Carrington (UK), and Tarragona (Spain). The sites together represent a scaled olefins and polyolefins platform strategically located in proximity to a longstanding customer base and with access and connectivity to key infrastructure.
Closing of the proposed transaction is currently expected in the first half of 2026. From the start, the new company will be a scaled leader in European Olefins & Polyolefins. Powered by strategically located assets, a diverse product portfolio, and operational excellence, it aims to transform the business, fostering an agile, entrepreneurial culture where fast decision-making and hands-on collaboration drive transformation and growth.

You will be crucial to a successful transition and, when the sale is closed, success of the new company. You will become part of a new dynamic organization with around 1,800 employees, headquarters in Rotterdam and production sites in France, Germany, UK and Spain with a strong focus on customer excellence.

To manage the site, maintenance, planning and scheduling services of a top tier COMAH site. Ensure Site Reliability by close interface with other functions such as Operations, Inspection and Procurement teams. You will be responsible for the resourcing and monitoring of the site maintenance and reliability performances & be a member of the Site Management Team as well as a member of the Site Emergency Duty Rota.

A Day in the Life

1. Budgetary control for all Maintenance and Reliability topics; and the deployment of corrective actions to meet the fixed cost Site target by building a culture of cost discipline: Maintenance fixed costs of £7.5m pa Major Turnaround (TA) ~£8.0m every 4 years
2. Lead development, prioritisation and execution oversite of Site CAPEX projects, ensuring alignment with the Long-Range Plan (LRP), Asset Strategy and corporate investment processes.
3. Provide Maintenance and Reliability input into the LRP, including assets lifecycle planning, obsolescence management and long-term cost forecasting.
4. Accountable to reach the Integrity and Reliability Site target including PP plant and logistics infrastructure.
5. Accountable to maintain GOALZero for all maintenance related activities for both LYB and Contractors.
6. Keep up to date with best organisation and practices in Maintenance and Reliability, in line with Site goals and Asset Strategy plan.
7. Generate and maintain a Continuous Improvement (CI), Maintenance Culture.
8. Define and control Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), in line with the Company and Site goals for Maintenance and Reliability.
9. Manage Site Maintenance/Reliability in line with Asset Strategy.
10. Work closely with the Site HSEQ Manager on the Asset Integrity plan.
11. Manage/monitor contract co-ordination – identify need, agree scope, source Contractor(s), review ongoing progress, and be an active member of the Site’s Tender Board.
12. Responsibility and awareness of appropriate ISO standards to manage functional/Site procedures, conduct Site/Company audits to maintain compliance.
13. Line Manager for the Site Maintenance Team Leader, CAPEX Project Manager, Mechanical, Electrical & Instrument Engineers.
14. Identify, develop, maintain and audit maintenance policies, strategies and practices to continually improve the Site Reliability, Integrity and Efficiency (‘Time On Tools’), whilst minimising plant downtime.
15. Manage and control resources such that applicable legislative HSE/Integrity requirements continue to be met and comply with Corporate policy.
16. Participate in Site Management activities to co-ordinate the strategic plan, prioritisation, and direction for the site for high Reliability achievement.
17. Embrace and encourage Site participation in corporate networking initiatives, share best practice and benchmarking data with other internal locations as appropriate, liaise closely with other Site Maintenance Managers both in the UK and the wider Maintenance corporate community.
18. Responsible for Site Maintenance stores function - manage and monitor assets and resources in line with corporate procedures and requirements, conduct Annual Management reviews against appropriate Operational Excellence standards.
19. Staff management and training: ensure all staff are competent and suitably qualified to undertake their duties/management of company and employee expectations and requirements with respect to career development and performance.
20. Responsible for the Site’s Major Turnaround, managing the necessary resources required to safely execute the shutdown on-time, on budget and following Major outage Operational Excellence standard.
21. Lead TA preparation activities, including scope development, risk-based work selection (Scope optimisation), resource planning, Contractor strategy, cost control, schedule assurance and post-TA learning capture.
22. Ensure TA readiness reviews, gate processes and corporate standards are fully met.

DIGITAL & AI-ENABLED MAINTENANCE:

23. Champion the use of AI, predictive analytics and digital tools to enhance maintenance efficiency, asset reliability and decision‑making
24. Deploy AI‑supported condition monitoring, failure prediction and optimisation tools to reduce unplanned downtime and improve Maintenance planning accuracy.
25. Look how to integrate AI insights into Maintenance strategies, TA scope development and long-range asset planning.
26. Promote Digital Literacy within the Maintenance organisation and ensure teams are trained to use modern diagnostic and analytical tools.
27. Collaborate with corporate digital/innovation teams to pilot and scale new technologies across the Site.

You Bring This Value

EDUCATION & LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

28. A degree in Engineering or 15 years’ experience in maintenance activity with supervisory role is a minimum requirement

WORK EXPERIENCE:

29. Ideally at least five years’ experience of managerial responsibility for Staff, budgets and projects.
30. Experience of working with Top Tier COMAH regulations.
31. Leadership role in HSE is strongly appreciated.

SKILLS:

32. Proficient in Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SAP
33. Excellent communicator and relations builder
34. Ability to communicate orally and in writing in an organized, effective and timely manner
35. Fluency in written and oral English is essential

What We Offer

We offer an attractive compensation package, which includes participation in the Company’s discretionary short-term incentive (bonus) programme. Currently, the full-year target bonus for this position is 15% of base salary.
The holiday entitlement is 25 days/annum plus bank holidays.
We offer membership of the Company Defined Contribution Salary Sacrifice Pension scheme with employer contributions of up to 10% matching double employee contributions.
We also offer Private Healthcare, Group Life & Income Protection insurances, a Health Cash Plan and a Cycle to Work Scheme.
Working hours 37.5 hours/week, Monday to Friday.
