Overview
Teaching Personnel is recruiting for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support within a Special Educational Needs (SEN) provision. This role offers the chance to make a real difference to a young person requiring additional behavioural and emotional support.
You will be joining a large, inclusive secondary school in Newport with a strong ethos of a school for all, where everyone succeeds.
You will be working in the school's well-established ALN provision, including a resource base for pupils with moderate to severe learning difficulties. What We’re Looking for?
The ideal candidate will bring:
* A positive, proactive, and compassionate attitude
* Experience supporting children or young people with SEN and challenging behaviours
* The ability to implement strategies to manage and de-escalate behaviour effectively
* Confidence in delivering structured, tailored learning activities under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO
* A commitment to encouraging the pupil’s engagement, confidence, and emotional development
* Strong communication skills to work closely with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals
* Dedication to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
Requirements
Teaching Personnel can provide guidance to help you obtain:
* Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
* An Enhanced Child and Adult DBS on the Update Service
* Level 2 Safeguarding training
* At least two professional references covering the past two years
