GAB’s primary role is providing end-to-end technical support for legacy and future workflows and databases on systems based in DGC at MOD Feltham and RAF Wyton. This includes supporting users of mono and stereo imagery in data capture, manipulation, output, storage, curation, and provision. GAB ensures DGC staff have the technical capability to collect, produce, store, and provide Foundation GeoINT to Defence customers and partners, delivering Requests for Information reliably and on time.
The roles support DGC’s cartographic production of air charts, including maintenance and enhancements to procedures from tasking through processing, product compilation, to publishing final products. The post holder will develop solutions within an agile programme, enabling rapid enhancements to NCGI operational capabilities through commercial software, low code/no code applications, and Python scripts. They will develop new capabilities and modify existing ones to meet evolving requirements and fix software issues, providing guidance and innovative solutions as needed.
Your daily responsibilities will include:
1. Improving production workflows by adding scripts and FMEs to automate processes.
2. Integrating web services and ESRI portal apps into current workflows.
3. Collaborating with the standards team to ensure consistent symbology and schemas across products, complying with specifications.
4. Testing and developing flow lines during software upgrades to ensure continued functionality and integration of new tools.
5. Providing first-line fault diagnosis for production errors.
6. Liaising with international partners to share ideas.
7. Staying updated on evolving technology to ensure NCGI benefits from new developments.
Regular travel to MOD Feltham will be required. These positions have no line management responsibilities.
For external candidates, this role will be based at RAF Wyton. Current MOD Feltham employees may be temporarily based there before a permanent relocation to RAF Wyton, scheduled for Autumn 2025. Relocation packages may be available for MOD Feltham staff, subject to MOD policy. The role will involve detached duty between sites until the Feltham site closes.
