We are an elective surgical centre offering arthroplasty, orthopaedics, general surgery, endoscopy, and cataract surgery. The clinical services include outpatients, day‑surgical unit, inpatient ward, theatres, endoscopy suite, radiography, physiotherapy, and pharmacy provided by a multidisciplinary team.
The Referral to Admissions Team (R2A) is a small team based within the Outpatient Department. They ensure timely progression of patients from referral to PPG Plymouth through to admission for surgery. This is a part‑time position working 3Ø 8‑hour days each week from 07:30 am to 04:00 pm (including a 30‑minute unpaid lunch break).
What You'll Be Doing
* Provide dynamic and effective leadership of the Referral to Admissions Team.
* Ensure all patients referred to PPG Plymouth progress through the referral‑to‑admission pathway in a timely and effective manner to provide a high volume of fit‑for‑surgery patients.
* Manage the Referral to Admissions Team to coordinate and deliver all work activities within the area of responsibility during that time.
* Coordinate all aspects of the referral‑to‑admissions pathway for individual patients to ensure collaboration and prevent fragmented care by various health professionals and departments.
Qualifications and Experience
* Registered Nurse (Level 1) with active NMC registration.
* Minimum 3 years post‑registration experience with strong clinical judgement.
* Previous experience in pre‑assessment or perioperative care.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to work autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team.
* Strong time‑management and organisational skills.
* Competent in using clinical IT systems.
* Understanding of infection control, health & safety, and pre‑operative risk factors.
* Flexible, positive attitude and commitment to high standards of care.
