About the Nursery:
We are a brand-new, boutique-style nursery offering a unique fusion of Montessori and Forest School principles, designed to nurture confident, curious, and capable learners. Our calm, nature-inspired environment supports children from 6 months to 5 years in developing independence and a love of learning. As we prepare to open our doors, we are looking for a dynamic and experienced Nursery Manager (Level 5/Level 3) to lead our team and shape our ethos from the ground up.
Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Nursery Manager to oversee the daily operations of our setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education, a deep understanding of government funding mechanisms, and a commitment to creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment. You will lead and inspire a team of early years professionals, ensure regulatory compliance, and build strong partnerships with families and the wider community.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage all daily operations of the nursery, ensuring compliance with Ofsted, EYFS, and health & safety standards.
* Lead the development and delivery of an engaging, child-led curriculum incorporating Montessori and Forest School philosophies.
* Oversee and ensure the accurate management of government funding, including eligibility, application, and audit processes.
* Be a visible leader who supports and steps in across rooms when needed to ensure quality and continuity of care.
* Supervise, support, and mentor nursery staff, conducting regular supervisions, performance reviews, and training.
* Build strong, trusting relationships with parents and guardians, maintaining open communication and handling any concerns professionally.
* Maintain detailed records for children's learning, development, attendance, and safeguarding, using nursery software systems.
* Ensure the nursery remains a safe, clean, and welcoming environment at all times.
* Promote the nursery within the local community through outreach, events, and partnerships.
Skills & Experience Required:
* Minimum Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education or equivalent (essential).
* Previous experience as a Nursery Manager or Deputy Manager in a high-quality setting.
* Strong understanding of government funding (including 15/30-hour entitlements and funding audits).
* Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
* Confident using IT and nursery software (e.g., Famly, Blossom, or similar).
* Proven ability to lead and develop a team, fostering a positive and collaborative working environment.
* Deep knowledge of child development and a commitment to inclusive practice.
* Passion for innovative, nature-based learning and child-led education.
