About The Post
An opportunity has arisen for a Technician to work within the councils Bereavement Services Section.
The role will ideally suit someone with good communication skills and the desire to strive for excellence in meeting the needs of all users and visitors. The work involves tasks associated with funeral services at Barnsley Crematorium and in Cemeteries throughout the borough. This will include, funeral services, cremations, burials, scattering of ashes, removal of flowers, installation of marble plaques and tablets, preparation, cleaning and housekeeping to a high standard within the chapels and grounds. In addition the operation of the councils pet crematorium including the collection and cremation of pets.
The post holder will be required to deal with enquiries from funeral directors, celebrants and other visitors. They will also work directly with the public and carry out a variety of duties which involve physical, administrative and technical work.
Qualifications
Successful applicants must pass the ICCM Cremation Technicians Training Scheme with 12 months of taking up the appointment.
Please note a full driving license is required along with a minimum qualification of NVQ level 2.
