Job overview

We are seeking a compassionate, team oriented and dynamic Band Genetic Counsellor to work as part of the specialist Inherited Cardiac Conditions (ICC) team. The ICC GC will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and be responsible for delivering and/or supporting the delivery of genetics services. The post holder will have access to CPD, as well as quality counselling supervision in keeping with the AGNC Counselling Supervision requirements.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will autonomously manage their own case load as well as taking part in the weekly ICC MDT clinic. The post holder will be required to provide a mixture of in person, telephone and virtual appointments in Oxford. There will be opportunities to support and educate STPs and trainee genetic counsellors, as well as contribute to local and regional projects and audits. There will be opportunities to support colleagues through registration, for those who meet the GCRAB/AHCS/HCPC criteria.

We welcome applications from those who have successfully completed or are due to complete the National School of Clinical Scientists STP Genomic Counselling in September and who are registered or are pending registration with the HCPC; Overseas trained GCs who hold a valid from the UK Genetic Counsellor Registration Advisory Board; and UK MSc Genetic Counselling graduates (Cardiff) who have not yet achieved GCRAB registration.
