Job Description:
Pulse has recently partnered with one of the UK’s leading providers of diagnostic and healthcare solutions. We are currently seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician to support the clinical leadership of the service. This position is based in Birmingham, easily accessible via public transport.
About the role:
As a Pharmacy Technician, you will perform various duties to support the pharmacy service while undergoing comprehensive training. The role involves contributing to the overall service and providing cover as needed to ensure smooth operation and service benefits.
Your main responsibilities as a Pharmacy Technician:
* Participate in dispensing prescriptions and orders presented to hospital pharmacies serviced by the trust.
* Participate in dispensing clinical trials, ensuring all documentation is accurately completed.
* After training, participate in medicines management services, including preparing sterile and non-sterile pharmaceuticals, cytotoxics, intravenous injections, CIVAS, and parenteral nutrition using aseptic techniques. Maintain an up-to-date broth transfer test.
* Provide advice to patients and healthcare professionals about medicines and supplies in a sympathetic and courteous manner.
* After training, interview and counsel patients regarding their medicines and supplies.
* Assist in purchasing and controlling stock using a computerized system.
* Support the top-up, issue, and distribution of pharmaceuticals to wards and departments.
* Contribute to processing cash/cheques and billing patients and staff as necessary.
* Maintain accurate records of work, including computer records.
* Keep the environment clean and tidy.
* Contribute to the security and maintenance of pharmaceuticals.
* Participate in stock taking and report discrepancies.
* Follow departmental Standard Operating Procedures and participate in audits.
* Assist in training and education as required.
* Develop personal knowledge and skills.
* Achieve objectives set during performance reviews.
* Participate in departmental rotas, including early and late shifts, bank holidays, and weekends.
Qualifications and experience:
* Experience in hospital pharmacy.
* NVQ3, BTEC, or equivalent in pharmaceutical science.
* Registered with the Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain by 2007.
* Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
