Job summary
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Sonographer to work as an independent practitioner, working closely with the Superintendent on the management and planning of an efficient ultrasound service daily. The post holder must ensure consistency of medical imaging quality, accurate, informative report writing, and maintain standards of patient care to the agreed departmental protocol. To maintain a high level of personal expertise and continual professional development.
Main duties of the job
We have busy, well-equipped ultrasound departments at Epsom General Hospital and St Helier Hospital. The role covers all ultrasound imaging techniques, including Abdominal, Vascular, Musculoskeletal, Paediatric, Obstetric, and Gynecological with Nuchal scanning. The department at Epsom consists of 5 general ultrasound rooms, one vascular ultrasound room, and one dedicated maternity room for obstetric scans. The department at St Helier consists of 5 general rooms, a dedicated paediatric service within the children's unit, dedicated obstetric rooms in maternity, and a satellite service at the Jubilee Health Centre. Motivated, well-organised, caring professional manner with good patient interaction is required. Advancement into specialist areas such as MSK or Paediatric imaging will be supported.
Qualifications and training
* DCR or BSc Radiography
* PG Certificate in Ultrasound or International equivalent with specialism in a minimum of 2 of the following specialties: Obstetrics/gynaecology, MSK, vascular, general
* HCPC/Governing body professional registration
Desirable qualifications
* Interest in further study and CPD or working towards further qualification
Desirable experience
* Audit experience
Knowledge and skills
Essential
* Sound knowledge of general ultrasound procedures (including obstetrics, gynaecology, general)
* Effective communication to ensure high standards of care, treatment, service or support as appropriate to your role
* Ability to organise and prioritise work and that of others
Desirable
* Working towards sonography specialism e.g. vascular sonography SVT accreditation
