We're looking for a skilled and compassionate Theatre Practitioner (Recovery) to join our busy theatres team. Working within the Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU), you'll play a vital role in supporting patients through the immediate post-operative period, ensuring their safety, comfort and wellbeing at a critical stage of their surgical journey. As part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, you'll deliver high-quality, patient-centred care while working closely with anaesthetists, surgeons and ward teams. As our Theatre Practitioner (Recovery), you will be:
Responsibilities
* Delivering safe, effective and compassionate care to patients within the recovery area.
* Assessing, monitoring and supporting patients throughout the post‑anaesthetic recovery period.
* Ensuring effective handover from anaesthetics and theatre teams and onward handover to wards.
* Recognising and responding to clinical deterioration, including emergency situations and resuscitation.
* Managing airway support, pain control, observations and IV therapies in line with best practice.
* Maintaining a clean, safe and well‑equipped recovery environment.
* Supporting infection prevention and control standards within the department.
* Accurately recording clinical interventions, medications and patient information.
* Contributing to stock control, equipment checks and reporting maintenance issues.
* Participating in audit, education, supervision and ongoing service improvement.
Qualifications
* Relevant post‑registration experience in recovery, anaesthetics or critical care (ITU).
* Up‑to‑date clinical knowledge of anaesthetics, analgesia, emergency drugs and airway management.
* Confidence in recognising and responding to deteriorating patients, including extubation and resuscitation.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
* A calm, organised approach and the ability to work well under pressure.
* A flexible and positive attitude.
